Towns & Cities
Two-third of Switzerland's population live in towns or cities. There are 6 metropolitan areas - Zurich, Bern, Basel, Geneva, Lausanne and Ticino - each with a population of at least half a million. Collectively, they are responsible for 59% of the country's total economic output.
Despite this towns I suggest you to discover charming mountain cities as Thun, Grindelwald, Zermatt, Gstaad or St Moritz.
Rivers & Lakes
The Rhine is Switzerland's biggest river and drains almost 68% of its water into the North sea. Second comes the Rhône river which drains 18% into the Mediterranean sea. There are many other smaller rivers, ideal for taking a swim or doing a white water rafting trip. Besides the rivers, Switzerland has over 1,500 lakes which form its characteristic landscape. Lake Geneva which straddles the Franco-Swiss border is the largest lake in Western Europe, followed by Lake Constance. But probably the most beautiful one is situated in central Switzerland: Lake Lucerne.

Glaciers & Mountains
Glaciers cover around 3% of Switzerland's surface area, the largest of which is the 23-kilometre-long Aletsch glacier. There you can find the Jungfraujoch (3,471m) and the restaurant where James Bond was filmed. Don't forget the most emblematic mountains of Switzerland: the Matterhorn (4,478 m), one of the biggest mountains in the Alps.
