Swiss people

According to Diccon Bewes,"The Swiss are a bunch of coconuts". In appearance, Swiss people look cold and reserved because they are introverted. But when you know them, they are very welcoming. Once you break the ice and you get their trust, they are very warm. If for example you get lost in a city or you need advice to visit places, they can be very helpful.

Swiss people are also respectful and polite. For example Swiss people always cross on the zebra crossing, they wait for the green light to cross and even drivers always  stop at a zebra crossing to let pass pedestrian. They always ask you if the seat is free in the train even if that goes without saying!

Hiking philosophy

Life in Switzerland motivates people to do something they might not do at home: hiking, cycling, water-sports, skiing, and snowboarding are all common, easily-accessible weekend pursuits.

Hiking is a "religion" in Switzerland.

Youth, old - whatever your age - people go hiking during their free time. You can recognize them with their backpack, walking pole and hike shoes in the train.

Thanks to over 65 000 kilometres of waymarked trails, virtually every corner of Switzerland is waiting to be discovered. The paths are well marked and as varied as the scenery – in fact, they quickly become an end in themselves. Ascend a peak, hike through alpine meadows, explore a forest?

Switzerland, a land of water

Switzerland is the source of 6% of Europe's freshwater reserves and is often referred to as Europe's reservoir. It is also the source of many major rivers, like the Rhône, the Rhine and the Inn, which flow into the Mediterranean, North Sea and then Black Sea respectively.

Main cities are situated near rivers as Bern or lakes such as Zurich, Luzern, Neuchatel, Lugano, Geneva, Lausanne, which embellishes the landscape especially when combined with mountains.
