Let's go for one year!

Here I am. Monday 12th September. Today, I turn 20 and this is my first school day in an other country.

All the campus of FHNW (Olten, Basel and Brugg) have organized for the first time an "International Week" from 12th September to 16th September.

The International Week provides incoming students an in depth introduction to key social, political and economic aspects of Switzerland, enabling them to better integrate into their classes in the following semester and providing context for their studies in Switzerland. The International Week is open to incoming students of all FHNW School and degree programmes at bachelor level.

During this week, I'm going to visit several cities (Ben, Basel) and have an overview of Switzerland.

  • Introduction to Switzerland: Culture, social & economic structures

  • Swiss pharma and life sciences industry, history of the NW region, culture industries: art, architecture

  • Government, politics, international relations, Swiss education system, research/innovation policy

  • Small-medium enterprises, innovation, engineering/technology, start ups, niche markets/product innovation, economy

  • Understanding Switzerland, Swiss politics and economics, diversity, integration/migration, the NW region and its meaning for the country

At the end of the International Week I will have to write an individual reflective essay analyzing a question developed during the seminar week (link to my essay).
